Is it worth it?

How do you know if you’re writing a book that’s worth the trouble (and the money) of self publishing?

Answer these questions first:
-       Do you read a lot?
-       Have you been writing stories since childhood?
-       Do you care about grammar, punctuation and style?
-       Do you make an effort to expand your vocabulary?
-       Do you speak more than one language?
-       Are you prepared to take criticism, and adapt?

Then you should have the skills to write a readable essay. Just add fantasy, talent, logic, empathy, structure, dedication and originality, and you’re halfway there. What you cannot control is the market. If your book is too niche, it will not sell, no matter how brilliant. And even if there’s an audience for it, you have to reach out. Too late for modesty now!
