October 29: International Day of Care and Support

Women perform 76.2 per cent of the total amount of unpaid care work, 3.2 times more time than men. Paid care work is performed by a wide range of personal service workers, such as nurses, teachers, doctors and personal care workers.

October 11: International Day of the Girl Child

Nearly 1 in 5 girls don't get any form of education; around 90 % of them have limited access to internet; girls spend millions of hours per day more on domestic work than boys; girls account for 3 in 4 new HIV infections among adolescents; nearly 1 in 4 married/partnered adolescent girls experienced physical or sexual violence; more than 100 million girls are at risk of child marriage...
All of this reminded me of poor Iphigenia. Click here for her story!
